Hogg's Hen Houses (Rent-a-Chicken)
Hogg Haven Family Farms Rent-a-Chicken program that we call Hogg's Hen Houses offers a unique opportunity to bring the farm to your backyard. No experience is required and all equipment needed to raise chickens in your backyard is supplied by us – including the chickens! A typical rent-a-chicken season runs from April through September, depending on weather.

We have two chicken rental options. Both come with all the supplies you need to raise chickens, including non-GMO chicken feed.

Do I need a backyard?
Yes, you need a backyard to rent a chicken coop, and it’s best if it’s fenced in to keep the chickens safe and contained if they accidentally get out. To fit the coop through your fence, the gate must be at least 4 feet wide.
Do I need a permit to have a chicken coop in my yard?
Depending on where you live, a permit may be required to keep a chicken coop in your yard. We recommend checking your city’s website or giving them a call to understand permitting needs. If a permit is required by your city, it’s your responsibility to secure it before we deliver your coop.
Do I need to know how to care for chickens?
Nope! We’re excited you’re interested in raising chickens and will provide training on how to care for them. If you have questions along the way, just call!
What supplies come with the chicken coops?
We’ll supply you with the coop, 2-3 chickens, a waterer and feeder, and food and bedding.
Do I need to live near Hogg Haven Family Farms to rent a coop?
We’ll happily deliver anywhere within a 50-mile radius from our farm in Clearwater, Minnesota. If you live outside of that area, we’ll charge an additional fee based on drive times.
