Meet The Hoggs
Hogg Haven Family Farm is a small farm on owned and leased land operated by Steven and Andrea Hogg and their three children. The farm is located near the Mississippi River in Clear Lake, Minnesota. What gets us up and going every morning is our belief that farming can make the world a better place.

Steven Hogg grew up on a farm and always had a passion for understanding and protecting nature. He left home to study environmental science and pursue a career protecting and restoring wildlife habitat. Both experiences have given him a deep understanding of what it means to care for the land. After 15 years of restoring habitat as a wildlife biologist in the Twin Cities, he was ready to bring farming back into his life. That knowledge and passion for taking care of the land is at the heart of Hogg Haven Family Farms and why we are focused on wildlife-friendly farming practices.
Andrea Hogg grew up in Albertville, Minnesota, and is learning how to be a farm girl. She helps with chores and feed runs, and loves to help pick out healthy animals to raise. She is excited to support Steven as he realizes his dream of owning and operating a farm.
Steven and Andrea’s three children also play a big role on the farm by helping to take care of the animals. They’re learning where their food comes from, how to work hard, and the importance of treating animals and the land ethically.
While we are a family farm, Hogg Haven has also been supported by many others, including dear friends at Red Barn Family Farm. By leasing sheep to our kids for 4-H and inviting us to be part of their shearing days, they’ve helped us learn so much about caring for sheep. Having these experiences before we had our own sheep helped us tremendously in understanding how to integrate them into our farm.

Our Approach to Farming
A Local Family Farm
We believe in quality food for our customers, happy farm animals, and a healthy natural environment for our kids to grow up in. And we believe that farming can make it all happen!
Our farming methods focus on treating everything involved with respect – and that makes a great product! We give our animals plenty of room to move and fresh food and ground to graze. We also practice regenerative farming, which means we move our animals around the farm so the land has time to recover after it’s been grazed. This improves soil quality, which makes our farm a better place for pollinators and other wildlife. Learn more about our farming practices.
